readworks parent access
In order to utilize our iPads and cut down on paper copies made, the majority of our reading materials are accessed via the internet/iPad. ReadWorks.Digital is a site that we use weekly for both reading and social studies. Readworks is recommended by the IDOE and gives students access to rigorous, engaging, high-interest articles that align with state standards.
When an article is assigned, students are to read it completely and answer the questions assigned. There are usually 7 multiple choice questions and 3 short answers. When I grade the short answers I can give 1 point, .75 points, .50 points, or .25 points. I am looking for answers that restate the question, answer the question completely, use complete sentences, and use text evidence when appropriate.
All graded articles can be accessed on-line. Re-reading articles and reviewing missed questions is a great way to help students understand the material and improve future scores.
